A four-minute 2D explainer for Common World, a platform for co-buying and co-owning business assets, built on animation of the product interface.

Common World is a digital platform that lets several businesses buy an expensive asset together, such as a 3D printer, a delivery van or warehouse space, agree their shares and rules of use, and manage the co-ownership in one place. The challenge was to build a new business model in the viewer's mind before the product existed.
We started from a concrete financial problem and led the viewer through the ecosystem: the CommonPay co-buying marketplace, the paths of an initiator and a future co-owner, negotiating terms, and managing the asset through CommonShare and services through CommonService. Instead of abstract icons we animated the actual interface designs, so a product that still existed largely as mock-ups could be shown as a working system.
The first version supported quantitative research and concept validation with potential users. We then adapted it for SMEs, with a new script, voiceover and updated interfaces.
