Znak – Lokatorka Book Trailer

Publisher Znak asked us for a trailer for the novel Lokatorka. A book trailer has to work like a feature-film trailer, except that the film does not exist, so the story, cast and look all had to be built from the page.

Director Piotr Śmietana, who also wrote the concept, translated the book into the language of film and matched each frame to the novel. We handled casting, location scouting, the shoot, editing, post-production and sound design. The location, with its minimal white floors and walls, echoed the interiors described in the book, and we shot on a Sony F5 with a raw recorder for a cinematic image.

The result is a 60-second trailer for online distribution, and a project that let our team work with the discipline of narrative film.
